Serial number on the back

The serial number on the back of the Apple-1 was most likely written by Steve Jobs. According to available information, a forensic analysis has not yet been performed for this Apple-1. However, for some other Apple-1s with a serial number on the back it has been confirmed that it is Steve Jobs' handwriting. More information.

Mounted nicely in briefcase. Including keyboard and power supply.
Since July 2019 it is on display.

History

Rick Conte was a computer hobbyist.
There is some chance that Rick Conte obtained this machine from Stan Veit and it is the one Stan displayed at the ACM show in 1976. However, confirming this will be difficult. Rick Conte bought it from an advertisement, that was in the back of a computer magazine and it came assembled in the briefcase. He think, he bought it for US$ 995. He offered it in 2008 for US$ 15,000.
It was in December 2009 donated by Rick Conte to a non-profit organization (Maine Personal Computer Museum) and in July 2010 purchased for a private collection. In September 2014 it changed again hands.
Apple Registry caretaker Achim Baqué visited the owner between 2017 and 2019 several times, talked about possibilities to sell it and confirmed, it is a beautiful original Apple-1.
Sold at Christie's auction on May 23, 2019 for GBP 371,250 (about US$ 470,000) to the System Source Computer Museum, 338 Clubhouse Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21031, USA.

State

Very good. The original Apple Cassette Interface was cutted at the top and bottom to fit into the briefcase.
